Spring fever 2020 is not the spring fever of the past. With the Coronavirus dominating our awareness, 2020 has the feel of fear. We’re asked – not told – to stop personal interactive activities – to be selfless, careful, and considerate. Can we listen? Can we quell fear of the future, for the gift of time to enjoy the present? Nature’s signals are all about renewal. Are we listening?
I am well, with the fervent hope that you are too. This is our time to be heroes. Here’s what is asked of us:
Stop.
Just stop.
It is a mandate.
Stop the planes, trains, schools, malls, meetings, and rush of obligations.
lsolate.
No visiting in person; no exceptions.
Share one loyalty – to universal health and well-being.
There is no option. There’s no time to be cavalier – to believe you can do as you wish – to speculate that this mandate does not apply to you.
I’m learning to be alone. I’m unlearning busyness. I’m learning this virus is smarter than I am – it spreads via people with and without symptoms. We – you and I and our loved ones – are its target hosts. The statistics about the rapid spread of COVID-19 are worrisome, but until it hits close to home, they stay abstract.
Let’s have the highest respect for this viral intrusion.
It too is a part of nature. It is this year’s spring fever.
